Medical Emergency Team (MET) Course
The MET Course is a unique two-day event that promotes optimal team performance when managing deteriorating patients during Medical Emergency Team (MET) calls and Code Blue resuscitations on hospital wards.
Course participants include both ward-based and critical care trained health professionals and reflect the composition of staff at MET calls and Code Blue events. It is the only multidisciplinary course of its kind in Australia.

About the course
The course offers a diverse learning platform with focused lectures, small group discussions, video analysis and high-fidelity simulations in a clinical ward enviornment.
Our multidisciplinary faculty include staff with world renowned expertise in developing rapid response teams, as well as qualified simulation and debriefing experts.
- Learn key human factors principles for managing unexpected crises on the ward
- Deliberate practice in team leadership and followership for MET/CODE BLUE events
- Familiarisation with MET equipment and drugs
- Evidence-based lectures including MET data relevent to participants' workplaces
- Pre-reading handbook authored by Austin Health Intensive Care experts
- Certification of sucessful completion at end of course
