Austin Health has announced the appointment of Mr Adam Horsburgh as its CEO.
Mr Horsburgh will commence in the role on Monday 15 June.
Interim Board Chair, Dr Christine Bessell, said Mr Horsburgh has extensive health sector management experience in Victoria, as well as in the UK National Health Service.
“He also has senior policy and advisory experience with the Victorian government, including the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
“Mr Horsburgh is currently the Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer at Melbourne Health.
“Prior to joining Melbourne Health has was the Director, Performance & System Design at DHHS, and prior to that Mr Horsburgh spent 8 years at Monash Health in senior operational roles and as Executive Director, Performance, Strategy & Innovation.
“Throughout his career Mr Horsburgh has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to operational performance and has spearheaded strategies to deliver improvements to service quality and efficiency.”
Dr Bessell said Mr Horsburgh is committed to improving the patient experience and delivering quality outcomes, as well as financial rigour through optimised performance and effective cost management.
“He demonstrates a deep commitment to staff engagement across clinical and non-clinical roles, as well as external stakeholders across the broader health system,” she said.
“We look forward to welcoming Mr Horsburgh to Austin Health where he will ensure that we continue to support the community through the COVID-19 pandemic and deliver safe, high-quality care to residents in Melbourne’s north-east.”
Dr Bessell acknowledged the contribution of interim CEO, Dr Max Alexander, who will continue to lead the health service until Mr Horsburgh commences in June.
“We will ensure that there is a seamless transition when Mr Horsburgh commences.”
