We’re thrilled to welcome 65 new medical interns to Austin Health!

These bright and dedicated individuals are beginning their journey as junior doctors, ready to put their knowledge into practice and make a difference in patient care.

Supported by our experienced staff, they’ll rotate through specialties like general medicine, surgery, psychiatry, and the dynamic Emergency Department during their internship year.

Medical Director Medical Workforce Unit and Deputy Chief Medical Officer, A/Prof Kerryn Ireland-Jenkin, says that it was an absolute pleasure to meet and welcome Austin Health’s new 2025 interns.

“At Austin Doctors, our ethos is 'Work Learn Grow. Together.' This reflects how important training and education is in our medical community,” says Kerryn.

“I am sure you will join me in welcoming our 2025 interns, and supporting their journey of learning and discovery. Many of the interns have graduated Medicine from the Austin Clinical School, but some have come from other clinical schools to choose Austin Health for the next stage of their post-graduate career.”

“Having started my own Austin Health journey many years ago as a registrar, I can speak to the experience of learning in a centre of excellence, benefiting from our culture of patient-centredness, innovation, and care for staff.”

Please join us in warmly welcoming and congratulating our new junior doctors! We wish them success not only this year but in their future careers.
