After four years at Austin Health, Mr Adam Horsburgh has resigned from his position as CEO to take on a new role as the CEO of Alfred Health.
Austin Health’s Board Chair, Mr Ross Cooke, thanked Mr Horsburgh for his service to Austin Health and wished him all the best in his new role.
“Adam’s work at Austin Health has resulted in a stronger reputation for our service, a renewed focus on supporting our culture and staff wellbeing, and an organisational approach to embedding cultural safety.
“Adam has strengthened our role within the broader health system and positioned our service as a key partner and system leader. Under his leadership, Austin Health recently secured $275m of funding for a new emergency department with expanded capacity to better serve our communities, and established the Australian Centre for Transplantation Excellence and Research (ACTER), which will further strengthen our position as a leader in specialist services.
“Adam was instrumental in the COVID-19 pandemic management in Victoria through his substantive role as CEO, as well as through a secondment with the Department of Health as Victoria's Deputy State Controller - Health System Operations. Adam was key in establishing the Local Public Health Units (LPHUs) across Victoria during this time. Today, the LPHUs continue providing local community health services that are tailored to local needs.
“Adam’s passion for health equity, entrenching the Austin values and quality service delivery is reflected in his achievements”, said Mr Cooke.
Mr Horsburgh’s will finish his tenure at Austin Health in late July 2024. An extensive search for a new CEO will begin soon and the interim arrangements will be announced shortly.
